I made this floating credenza about 9 months ago for all of our media stuff and movies. It's made out of walnut and white plexiglass. the walnut cost $80 and the plexiglass was something I saved from a dumpster at a casino years ago. It's mounted to the wall with steel spacers from Lowe's.

The sliding doors slide on grooves cut into the top and bottom of the cabinet. I routed a groove in the plexiglass for a finger pull, I still need a pull for the walnut door (I'm thinking of a white inset one or a solid walnut handle).

The left side has shelves for components and the right side is for dvd and cat storage. I put little vents in the back behind the components to prevent over-heating, and I'm going to make some walnut drawers for the dvds on the right. Eventually. Having it mounted to the wall makes it easy to vacuum under, although I was really tempted to make hairpin legs for this. I saved them for the scrap-wood credenza I made later.
